Our complete list of plant-based cookbook reviews
Starting your journey on a whole-food plant-based lifestyle can be confusing. I will tell you that as an avid cook and passionate baker, it was quite a challenge for me. Then I realized I don’t need to forget about the foods I used to eat. I need to learn how to eat them.
Ahhh, a new lifestyle and not another diet. A journey to a healthier lifestyle that will reduce my risk of disease and take back my life.
What are the benefits of a whole-food plant-based (WFPB) diet?
Benefits of a whole-food plant-based diet include lower blood pressure, better heart health, lower risk of diabetes, and weight loss. Remember, a whole-food plant-based lifestyle is free of processed foods and refined sugars, regardless of whether they are marketed as vegan or vegetarian. Also remember, that you have control over how you start. Will you go all in, or will you eat WFPB more often than not, or will you eat WFPB all the time.
What are whole-food plant-based diet books?
Baking For The Soul is on a mission to give you the information you need to fully understand how to start a whole-food plant-based diet. Part of that mission is to review plant-based cookbooks for you and present them here for you to purchase.
Not every book will focus solely on a WFPB lifestyle. Some will be focused on vegan recipes, vegetarian recipes and may also include gluten-free, dairy-free recipes.
I do not cook with oil. however, some of the books I purchase, and review will have oil in the recipe. You can always substitute vegetable broth for sauteing or leave the oil out altogether. A really good alternative to oil in soups and sauces is miso paste.
The purpose of the WFPB books is to give you more information and use it as a guide to making a successful transition to a WFPB lifestyle.
As I purchase and use new books, they will be added to the list with a short review. I also will reference throughout the blog what page in what book will pair nicely with the recipe I publish.
