Extraordinary St Lawrence Market Absolute Foodcation

Delightful St Lawrence Market- Heartbeat of Toronto

Toronto is a playground destination for all walks of life in every age group. I am fortunate enough to live a quick hop, skip and jump from the Canadian border allowing Toronto to be a getaway weekend. No one will be disappointed in making the city a vacation destination.

Never had I visited or heard of St. Lawrence Market in my many visits to Toronto until this last visit.

While the ever-popular Kensington Market in Toronto is filled with eclectic shops, homes, and restaurants spread throughout community blocks, has all the glory. The extraordinary St. Lawrence Market in Toronto is an absolute foodcation. You have to take an entire weekend to fully experience this food market in Toronto.

A complex filled with specialty vendors offering exquisite antiques, meats, fish, bakery items, specialty bread, and dairy comprises St. Lawrence Market. Three market buildings, the South Market, North Market, and Complex Hall, contain the St. Lawrence Market complex.  Offerings in the North Market complex varies between Saturday farmer’s stands and Sunday antique vendors.

Multiple floors of Toronto history are filled with artisan bakers, butchers, and candlestick makers.  No pun intended. Seriously, every type of artisan you can imagine in the culinary arts is represented here. . Every single one with ties to family history in the art and community. St. Lawrence Market, by far, is the most authentic specialty market I have yet to visit. It’s the heartbeat of Toronto’s history from the neighborhood, into the building, and throughout the artisans.

I have no idea how this gem has been off my radar for so long, but I sure am happy to have found it. No visit to Toronto is complete without a stop at St. Lawrence Market. I will be visiting many times over and will bring friends and family, who can tolerate it, along for the ride.
